I recently listened to this again, and was really surprised how much I suddenly enjoyed it. the first few times it was pretty good, but not above the usual Coldplay-output, but by now it has really grown on me.

When I started listening to Coldplay, I thought they were alright. Just another piano rock band, but when I heard this album all the way through I quickly realized I underestimated them. The review really is analytical and defined. My absolute favorite song is Lost! because the lyrics are very creative and I have never heard anything like this. They certainly live up to there expectations.

My favourite is either Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love or the first title track.

Nah if Death And All His Friends were released as a single it would be the best of 2008 right.

The Dream-Pop, near-Shoegaze parts of this album (i.e., the middle part of "42" and "Chinese Sleep Chant") have quickly risen the ranks for me.

Still digging this album. I love all the different nuances on it, really. There are snippets of I-don't-know-how-many genres hidden in the cracks of the alternative rock front they put up.This Message Edited On 12.23.08

I'm glad their sticking to Brian Eno for the next album. Tbqh I think he saved the band from being overblown dumb like they were on X&Y. I think his production skills really make the band and album soar.

Apparently he thought the album "was alright" so im curious excited for what they will release next =P.

More so I never understood the Coldplay hate.......I mean amazing music can be popular too?

I love this album, but it just seems so rushed. I wish they had slowed down and thought about it a little more. I still really enjoy all the songs, but the hidden songs (after Yes, Death and..., etc.) just seem like they were tacked on at the end. I like the new direction, but I don't like how quickly it ended.

I gotta say, despite whatever is associated with Coldplay, I enjoy this album alot. Great batch of just genuinely good songwriting. I dug a couple of coldplay's older songs from A Rush Of Cold Blood (In My Place, God Put A Smile..) but this just really impressed me. Good work on the review.

You mean A Rush of Blood to the Head. Idk why nobody seems to think that's good as well.
