idk guys PHOBOS is better than this to me (obvs) and certainly has nothing to do with dungeon synth. susumu hirasawa/ electronica inspired. coffins is also a far cry from dungeon synth.

Dungeon synth is like the stuff Burzum made from prison I believe.
Symmetrical Arizona is fantastic. This is my favorite Kayo Dot record besides the first two and the three before Blasphemy.

Definitely a huge grower this one. First spin (a year ago or so) left me indifferent and kind of disappointed and now I'm amazed

Absolutely a grower. Same thing for me, went from not really enjoying this to owning it on vinyl. Toby and Mia did an awesome job with setting a mood and the addition of woodwinds really sets this apart.

Funny the first time I heard this I really liked it but the second time I was kinda underwhelmed, which is unlike the rest of the albums which do get better with each listen for me esp. Dowsing and Choirs. The total lack of metal threw me off

Toby makes much of his best work outside of metal imo
Definitely a record that you have to be in the mood for. Helps to listen to the whole thing at once and read along with the lyrics.
Krakow version of the t/t has a very nice new long intro which is worth hearing.

This is just above the bottom of their discog for me, above Blasphemy.
Meanders at times but is still solid.

not sure I've ever fully bought into the appeal of this one either

The meandering is definitely the best part

this is such a strange album but I can only see it getting better and better. The Awkward Wind Wheel is such a blast.

This was the one KD album I was never able to get into, but these days I think it might low-key be their best or in top 3 discussion. From a compositional standpoint, it's completely bonkers.
