This hasn't quite caught on yet... still OK to listen to though.

such a careful build over such a long time... perfectly executed. beautiful. this
makes the other two albums so laughably traditional.

The Awkward Wind Wheel reminds me of Zappa.

If you want to hear where are the growling and screaming is on this album, you can download "Twins Eating Fer De Lance" from mediafire. It was recorded during the BLD sessions and released by Hydra Head on a compilation vinyl and it is completely insane.

I really loved this album back when it first came out. Strangely enough, it was my first taste of Toby Driver. Now I've listened to everything else he's done with Kayo Dot and Maudlin, and when I come back to this, it's so strange and perfect. It's close to becoming a 5 for me. Hopefully Driver will one day get the respect he deserves. He's one of the greatest innovators in modern music. And by the way, is there anyone out there that's doing something as awesome as what Driver is, because if so I want it. This kind of music is addicting.

I really love the title track, but I find it really hard to get into the rest of the album. Is Choirs of the Eye more accessible than this?

Yes.

But accessible is a relative term.. it's more accessible than this album yeah, but it's less accessible than about 90% of music out there. Anything by Kayo Dot takes awhile to digest and appreciate.

I like this better than Dowsing. The songs are much more concise on here.

Album is overrated. I mean, isn't there enough of this backalley type jazz out there already?

this isn't jazz... the melodies are too oddly constructed for me and for fucksake the singing is terrible.
