I'll prob check the albums before this, and the new one. Hopefully I'll dig them a bit more than this.

Neko is perfect on These Are the Fables and Bones of an Idol. Those songs really play to her vocal abilities imo. And goddamn the drumming on this is so much more lively than most power pop albums coming out nowadays.

Though Neko's best performance is probably All for Swinging You Around on Electric Version.

I mean her vocals are good here don't get me wrong but play any of those songs you mentioned next to songs like Set Out Running, Furnace Room Lullaby, Pretty Girls, Deep Red Bells, I Wish I Was the Moon, Star Witness, Twist the Knife, Maybe Sparrow etc, and tell me that the ones here are the more impressive.

I stand by these New Pornographers songs being better than those. A lot of those songs are pretty one-note. Very pretty like most of her solo work, but not oozing in personality like the songs I mentioned. Different strokes though my dude.

Different strokes for sure because I have the exact opposite feelings. It could be a matter of genre because in general I find the country of Case's work more appealing than the pop rock stylings here.

Yeah I just like her more in this popper context. But the country tinge of her solo work is still really good.

Anybody hear the new album? Is it any good? Brill Bruisers was the last great album they made imo but still they've never come close to something this good again.

I'd say Together was their last truly good album, but other than that, agreed. Kind of putting off listening to the new one.

New Pornographers without Bejar hold little interest for me, just become run-o-the-mill indie shmindie without

you need him popping up once every three or four tunes

first two albums are pretty good though...but only 3.5 sort of good

chuck 'em in the same bin as The Shins
