I click "my reviews", select this review, then what?

I'm going to echo the sentiment that you need to give this one a little more time. This review basically summarizes what I felt about the album the first couple of times I listened to it. But after awhile, it was one of those albums that just suddenly clicked and it didn't seem boring anymore. Amazing stuff.
Good review, though.

Go on your profile, and to the left there is a small list of options, there should be an 'edit my reviews' option too.

I'm sorta on the fence. I really like this album, but at the same time, I still don't get why it drives so many people nuts.
Same goes for me, I also agree with nothin about how at first i though this was unimpressive, but it has grown on me quite a bit since then.

I gave this a 2.5 when I initially listened to this. Obviously, I changed my views as time went on. (No pun intended, seriously.)
But I agree, the drumming is way to average. Kai probably could play way better, but I'm not sure if Jari wants more technical drumming or not.

I'm going to have to just listen to this more then. I thought this was a pretty straight forward band, but I'll have to give them another chance. But yeah, the drumming is average. I think people got mad about that opinion because by average they think, "of average skill to play". Obviously the guy is above average skill, but he doesn't put the best, most appropriate beats in their songs. But like you said 143, Jari might want the drums that way.

I've been listening more, and I will admit, I rated them probably .5 too low. They're definitely better then I gave them credit for, although I still think their drummer needs to try to add a little more to the feel of the riffs, although his fills are great.

You could probably mold you review to a .5 rating higher by editing, but i don't think its really nesesary, theres already a 3.5 rating review so this gives a more critic view of the album.

The drumming alone makes this CD amazing

Wow, you must like "hard and fast" drumming. I've heard a ton of guys do what the drummer of Wintersun does. It doesn't impress me. He puts some good, tasteful fills in there though. He needs to experiment more and think a little more outside the box.

Yeah I really don't see why people on here don't like the drumming a whole lot. It's always tasteful and it's often very, very involved.

so...what genre does Wintersun exactly fall into?
ive heard everything from power metal, to melo-death, to symphonic black metal.

Thor, I just don't like the recycling of 2 or 3 drumbeats for the majority of the time. It drags with me and cuts off it the depth area of the music.
As far as a genre, I'd say Power metal with Black metal vocals, but whatever, classifying band into genres can be a conflicting task at times, and it really doesn't matter where they fit into. This Message Edited On 05.21.08

I disagree with your review. I just happen to like the album very much, but you aren't completely full of shit. Just partly.

He's not coming back hahaha^^^.
I can't believe how ridiculously good Jari is as a guitarist. How many solo (well not exactly) albums can you think of that are this good?
