With time maybe I'll say the same. Too early to tell though it's still growing

i used to adore it too but the slightly plastic sound started to irritate me after a while. still a masterpiece ofc but not quite perfect for me

Very impressive for jazz fusion, anyways. Silent way is a bit better.

to me both of the pieces from silent way feel like intros to songs that never come; the rhythm section especially is constantly "almost there", but never "actually there", every second feels unsatisfying (besides the drumless ambient parts, of course, which are pretty much the best things ever), which is weird because usually i dig pieces which are built in this way.

the best jazz fusion has gotta be soft machine's third i think. it has all of that rock music textural goodness and none of the cheapness while still clearly rooted in jazz ("moon in june" excluded)

One thing I like about Miles, especially here, is how much time he takes off. Many famous musicians feel the need to play consistently throughout the length of their album but Miles often takes long breaks letting the other people in the band shine which gives his albums a more unique sense of flow and character.

Lets kick a verse for my man called Miles
Seems to me his musics gonna be around for a long while
Cuz hes a multi-talented and gifted musician who can play any position
Its no mystery that youre no risk to me
Cuz Im a lover and tell your girl to throw a kiss to me
And jump in bed and have a fight with the pillows
Turn off the lights and let the J give it to ya
And let the trumpet blow as I kick this
Cuz rap is fundamental and Miles sounds so wicked
A little taste of be-bop sound with the backdrop
Of doo-wop and this is why we can call it the doo-bop
