This is probably the best trac-by-track on the site. Shame the CD reviews forum used to cruise with track by tracks.

I really can't stand this fanboy review. Unlike many people, I like the drumming on this album.

I think YotBR was a step in the right direction. It had awful production and underutilized talent (pennie, but that could be as much attributed to the shit production)...i will agree the good apollos have some shitty moments, but the band still succeeds more than it fails...

hopefully a new concept will reinvigorate these talented fellas...

I love the production on this album so much, just raw energy and emotion. By far Coheed's best album in my opinion. Junesong Provision is such a fucking intense song.

Someone help me understand what is Coheed and Cambria. I love a lot of metal and progressive music so naturally I was attracted to C&C before I even gave them a listen (that rockband song sparked my interest, what was it? Welcome home?)

I'm pretty ecliptic in my musical tastes, my favorite band is Dream Theater or Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins all the way to stuff like Fiona Apple, A7X etc.

I like the guitar and musicianship in this band even though it's kind of on the softer side. I'm not too fond of how ambiguous the lyrics are in the concept element. Like for example I listen to Pink Floyd's the Wall or Dream Theater's Scenes from a memory and I can follow the story no problem as I read along but with Coheed it's like wtf is going on...even as I'm reading the lyrics. All that aside...

I can't figure out why I keep listening to them. I don't overly "feel" the music as you guys describe. Is it cause I'm more on the metal side of things? I mean no disrespect, Coheed is a great band but I'm just not feeling it. I think a lot of it has to do with the lead singers voice, it's very...girly...even though he looks like he could beat my ass to a pulp... (doesn't look anything like he sounds)

Help me out here, what are some recommended songs / what mindset should I be in etc? I live primarily in the metal side of the world. Blind Guardian / Metallica / Trivium / Avenged Sevenfold / Dream Theater / Sonata Arctica etc. Is that my problem? Is it that I have too much metal in my blood? They're coming to Vegas (where I live) next friday and GA tickets are still available and I love progressive music so it's hard for me to say no. They also have some cool opening bands like Porcupine Tree / Deer Hunter (which I've never heard but heard great things about)

What do you think? In all seriousness help me out here! I have Coheed's entire discography (studio albums at least) on my ipod. After listening to them all I'm thinking my favorite is the apollo albums, and my least favorite is turbine. But everyone raves about turbine!!! What am I missing here?

Go to the show, they'll most likely blow your mind. Your tastes are basically confined to well-known metal acts; this album sees Coheed at their most unrefined and post-hardcore, so it won't really resonate with you yet. Keep exploring the site, checking out new music and expanding your tastes. If the show doesn't change your mind, you might come back to this later on and really enjoy it.

I thought some of the newer albums had some metallish influence in a couple songs? Like in "Welcome Home"? Anyway, your review is pretty good, album is probably my favourite from Co&Ca.

Took me like thirty listens (no joke) to get into this one, but now that I have, I see it as the piece of epic win that it truly is.
