If they ditched the keyboardist on their older albums, they would be insane. But their new stuff is horrible, absolutely horrible.

The keyboardist who, inexplicably, just jumps around and headbangs during the concert, and doesnt play a single note. Is he a mildly retarded childhood friend or something?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA, I said the same exact thing. He's just a crowd pumper. Real nice guy though, I got to chat with him.

This album is the sweetest thing to come from underoath. Changing of times sounded so bland and the singer wasn't nearly as good as spencer. Aaron, the drummer, has also developed a whole lot compared to changing of times.
Hawthoren heights is too pussy of a band to be compared to underoath and if you're comparing them to "the taste of ink" The used then I will somewhat agree. Except the used doesn't have a keyboredist or 2 guitarists. New the used blows in short. My favorite song on this album has to be "im content with loseing" (track 9). The vocals are amazing.
Tthese guys aren't hardcore, I would definately agree to whoever disagreed with that on their purevolume page, but they aren't outside of metal....mudvayne, haha, they are so bad. They all have these amazing degrees. They should get regular jobs, cause imo they don't stand out.

I hope you don't want to suggest with that statement that underOATH stand out musically?

this thread of comments proves emo kids are dumbasses
sorry, the people that think they are emo kids
changing of times had "when the sun sleeps", an awesome song, and a few other above average tunes. i wish the keyboard had been mused more though. Cries of the Past is an amazing CD, but Act of Depression... i dunno. its like they went from screamo to christian metal then back to screamo and then went a little more mainstream to poppish screamo.
Havent heard this album though. I heard one song and I didnt like it as much as their older stuff.

I hope your not saying that underOath stands out musically
well, they raent virtuoso's or anyhting but they are a billion times better than Mudvayne (but then again almost anything is better than mudvayne)

I agree with you ThursdayRage, but judging from your user name, you're a bit biased towards this kind of music. Why does a band have to be able to write songs in 9 million time signatures, do solos in their sleep, and scream like a woman to be considered good? Whatever gets your head bobbin...that's what works for me. I love Fuel...but they're no music geniuses. They write good rock songs. Bottom line. Mudvayne vs. underOATH...what a dumb comparison.

The drummer lost his talent. The beats on thios album are very simple. The guitar work is alright but predictable. The lyrics are generic and bland. The bass doesn't matter. The keyboards add a little to the songs but yes, he is just a gorillia live. Overall, I thought it was decent at first but then after about 3 listens I got really bored. I don't like it at all anymore.

Sorry dude, but technically, musically and IMO regarding song writing Mudvayne owns underOATH any day.

I only compared mudvayne to underoath in the first place because a poster with the name mudvaynian or something was commenting on them sucking. Like his choice in music was ultimate or something. The truth is the guys taste probably doesn't go anywhere but metal so commenting should have been forbidden to him anyway. Now if he just didn't like them because they went from metal to post hardcore, well, that's fine
Aarons drumming isn't qutie as simple as a previous poster said. He doesn't do anything amzing but he has definately gotten better from their older albums. Their lyrics are poetry and you're meant to think about them not just read and get confused over them. If you don't want to take that kind of time (and most of you sound like you don't) well thats fine. Granted some of their lyrics are plain and predictable but some of them really heart felt and real. UnderOATH is all together a great group of guys who can write good music imo.

ktstein i actually love underOath, and i'm not biased against any music, im not one of those ppl who judge a band on one song, my brother has Lost And Found, and i hear it almost (if not) everyday, so trust me, my views are well founded, and i will respect DamRods opinion of mudvayne
p.s.
on second thought ktstein u may not have been talking to me anyway lol, but my user name is my screenname from forever ago, so my love for rage against the machine had died a bit (while my love fot thursday hasnt) but like i said, im not biased at all

Fair enough...you going to see Thursday on the Taste of Chaos tour? Should be sweet. But i'm glad that neither underOATH or mudvayne are playing in my town. I'll take Thursday over them any day.
|
| |
HECK YEA IM GOING TO SEE THEM!!!
actually i dont know cause as of now im broke due to the truckstops and statelines tour, but yea, Thursday over underOath, cause either way i know more thursday songs
kinda odd we have similar tastes lol

Not to mention Thursday's live show is 100 times better than underOATH.
|

well i wouldnt know since ive never seen either of them live, but i have heard amazing things about their live show (my friend opened for them once the lucky bastard) and he said that during "for the workforce" some guy reached on stage (it was in a very cramped arena so thats possible) and screamed into the mic, and Geoff stopped the song and said "do that again ill fucking kick your ass" and continued on, now if thats not badass then i dont know what is lmao!

That's funny! Last time I saw them was right before WATT came out, and Geoff says, "ok, we're going play some new stuff now, and if you dont like it i'll ****ing kick your ***!" Haha. The best thing underOATH dude said was, "this one goes out to Jesus Christ." Before every song...not that there's anything wrong with that, but come on...overkill...
|
| |
yeah i can see that, but underoath live does seem pretty badass, especially during the whole chorus thing in "dangerous business..." but id probably be shanked or something lol, im not a very big/imposing/strong person so id be buried, but can their live show really be that bad?

Well it may or may not have been, but I guess I was just trying to get over the fact that I was the oldest person at the concert by a few years (I'm 24). I really just wanted it to be over so Thrice would go on. Maybe I didnt give them a fair chance, but oh well...its more fun that way. Ha!
|
| |
lol well im 15 so i probably wouldve fit in well there, but I have also heard amazing things about thrice's live show, but thrice rocks so thats believable
Im suprised b/c alot of my 20 somethiung friends love underoath, but i guess thats a matter of opinion
