Leaving SoP out of the TD category from Noctambulant onwards also makes life a bit easier.

Definitely tech death, there are just sub-sectors within tech I guess... to the point where the result is almost incomparable.

Well they're ultra techy of course, but Bryssling's writing is much more like you would write symphonic orchestral pieces, and very idiosyncratic in metal terms, thus setting SoP pretty much apart from a lot of TD bands. At least to my ears.
