kolzig could not be more right

Fallout Boy has existed and been popular for way longer than Hawthorne Heights has. They have a legacy and have just now gotten popular. Therefore, their actual fanbase will stay once the fad is over and their fad fanbase will move onto the next trend.

by 'no one' he meant the average listener.. i think..
|

dude, im no fanboy but Fall Out Boy is great, and smart pop/punk.
|
| |
yeah i meant the ppl who listen to whatevers popular at the time
|
| |
what the hell is wrong with popular music? Alot of good artists have been mainstream. Quit trying to be indie
|
| |
What's wrong with listening to something that's popular?
EDIT: Hahahaha, kolzig isn't indie. He's just an idiot. This Message Edited On 09.02.05

But Nick, aren't you too indie for comments? ;)
Kolzig, I suggest you watch how you speak your mind around here. Please be more mature.
|

i have nothing against FOB, i just dont like their music...
its cool
|
| |
i am being mature as i can see farther that just the present...i have my opinion just like the rest of you. i have no problem with mainstream bands there are alot of good ones. i dont like what mtv dictates as cool recently has been emo/gay screamo music. and yes fallout boy is one of these bands. in another year we will have a new fad from them that the teenage girls will follow
|
| |
yeah really in 3 years no one will remember gay bands like this, hawthorne heights, etc cuz its a stupid fad ppl who watch mtv follow
yeah, you're being REAL mature.

You know, he does have one point. Time will forget FOB and Hawthorne without ANY doubt. They're really not that good. They're just a wave of bands with lame slit-your-wrists and/or hate-your-life lyrics and bad concept album ideas that MTV2 is playing left and right because the undercurrent that was punk/emo pushed itself up into the mainstream. And that's when bands started making dishonest, boring music in hopes of selling it worldwide! Fallout Boy is just a product. They'll disappear. Whether you like it or not, they'll disappear, because they're nothing special. In terms of songwriting and in terms of technicality.

Fall Out Boy writes really good and catchy songs. Hawthorne Heights are going down really quick. Never had FOB made a song about slitting wrists. If I don't recall, the lyric from "Ohio Is For Lovers" is "I cut my wrists and black my eyes". You con go rant about that in the HH review. You may dislike FOB but that doesn't make you right. They have a very strong fanbase that wants more and more FOB. I know I'm apart of that base of fans. Fuck MTV2, they are ruining the music biz. They play what they think is cool = what everyone will like if they like it = overplaying = mainstream. Saying mainstream is "gay" makes you sound stupid. Music isn't about cool band names, it's about what you can jam to. I don't care if ALL the bands I liked were "mainstream". Just because you may be Indie does'nt make you cool. If you think that, you like music for the wrong reasons...

I've liked Fall Out Boy for a few years, so because I listen (and liked it, not as good as their first one) to their new cd it makes me one of those kids who just follows whats trendy? I like bands before they get MTVd
|
| |
i didnt say mainstream was gay...just some of it. and no fallout boy does not write about slitting wrists but like all their songs are like "omg my girl broke up with me im gonna cry"
|
| |
yeah i meant the ppl who listen to whatevers popular at the time
Pretty broad and generalized statement there, which basically means everything. And no, I'm pretty sure there lyrics aren't as what you just described them as. Just because they have a pop-punk sound doesn't mean that their songs are specifically about what other pop-punk bands choose to write and sing about.

once again, your wrong. all the songs are about love but not love depression.

They played the album in between bands at a concert I went to. I wasn't that impressed with what I heard, but I really like Sugar, We're Goin Down a lot.

Why listen to Fall out Boy when you can listen to the Queers?
