yeah, it’s weak because it doesn’t fit the criteria I’ve admittedly made up in my head. I don’t see it as a ‘rock album’ first and foremost whereas this undoubtedly is closer to those roots imo
…anyway I felt inspired to throw this on once again for nostalgia and / or perspective. My word does this sound way more familiar than I was expecting. So either it remains imprinted in my mind or this broke the mould and other bands really have aped the shit out of this sound, lol

I'm totally gonna steal the riff and feel of Gardenia for a new track my band'll hopefully debut in a month and not feel the least bit of shame about it.

Sounds good tone-wise but also kind of empty / barren… Desolate? That’s probably by design but man is it (contradictorily?) cold. Essentially an extension of Sabbath with a couple of bells and whistles. I’m not totally into this sound anymore, but like, I get it

I’m replacing any analysis with 90% vibes and this is basically Sabbath x cock rock + stoners and they’re boring af anyway. Cheers

The "four guys making as much fucking noise as they can in a desert 50 miles from anyone else" sound might not work for anyone who hasn't driven I-15 through the Mojave, but maybe I'm being generous. Would say the coldness is just an aspect of the desert rock, can be relentlessly frigid or hot and arid depending on how much sunshine you have. Its perfect for a road trip and the vast, desolate space between towns in the North American rural west.

should make a documentary where demon and ryus should be independently dropped with nothing but a guitar, amp, generator and pair of y-fronts and left to find rock or perish
have faith both would make it through eventually, but wanna place dibs on who has the first and greatest breakdowns along the way
also think coldness is a terrible descriptor for this lol (aside from Asteroid), thing is sweaty as all hell

Yeah cold is (admittedly) contradictory, I thought as much
Lol, would be a riot to witness I’m sure, but unlike Ryus I do actually enjoy this, despite my reservations.
