The first sentence kind of summed it up for me. Through the 90's these guys were just about my favorite band just slightly behind pavement. Siamese dream was a gorgeous album and melon collie was truly epic.. I remember when the first single of this came out. I was never really into the goth thing.. so I really disliked the look that billy was going with.. the single came out and I hated it.. albeit to say I got the album today and am listening to it. It's... not bad.. but it's nowhere near as grand in scale or sonic awesomeness as melon collie or siamese.. maybe I just need to listen to it more.. i'm listening to it now as I type heh. He really decided to go with a more radio friendly pop feel for this and.. that's not really my style. I don't know maybe it'll grow on me.. so far it's kinda.. mehh..

Adore is up there with Siamese Dream, nothing lower then a 4 in my opinion.
Daphne Descends, For Martha, Behold! The Nightmare, Once Upon A Time and The Tale Of Dusty And Pistol Pete are beautiful tracks, the rest are just as great

i havent listened to adore for long long years; after someone had stolen my cassette with this album i never came back to it... until today; i dont know why but i didnt like adore, it seemed lenghty, boring, even somehow lifeless in its melancholy; i decided to remind myself these songs and check out how my opinion concerning them might have changed with years;what can i say? despite my sceptic attitude i started to enjoy this album like never before; what i used to complain about most in the past now turned out to be the strongest point of adore: calmness, meditation, vulnerability... ethereal beauty locked in tasteful arrangements; maybe i had to grow up to changes in the band's style since fisrt 3 albums have always been my favourite; it's nice to discover adore again and see it in a brand new light this time; i put it on the same level with mellon collie while siamese still remains my number 1

This album is sonically beautiful. It is more concise than Mellon collie in my opinion. It more completely encompasses a single mood (solemnity/somber/melancholy) in my oipinion than any previous Pumpkins album. Which is sort of funny, because Mellen Collie...well I'm sure you get where I am going with this one. I don't agree with the 3.6 overall rating though. Easily a 4.0 in my eyes. Oh well. Crazy Sputnik ratings are crazy I suppose.

To Sheila rules. Jimmy is sorely missed on this album but it still kicks ass

yeah this is just Billy, James, D'arcy, and a drum machine with Matt Walker and the guy from Soundgarden playing drums on a couple tracks
rules pretty hard but the absence of Jimmy drags it down

Underrated record, one of the cases where lack of heaviness/loudness is unfairly associated with lack of quality.

Some good ideas on this one but also some mediocre bits. And its too long. Mellon Collie was longer but more interesting.
