Kill is Portsmouth. I'm Basildon.

One is historic the other is a 'new town' both are shit.

Good ol' British cheer, how I missed it. I lived in Wales for five years... passing back through at the moment. Currently in York. Has pigeons, old buildings and Tesco Metros, same as everywhere else =P

I like Wales never been to York but all I hear are good things.

I have to say on the way down to Pompey going through the downs and surrounding area there are some fucking unbelievable places. Villages that are unspoilt gems.

I'm liking York eh, really rich in history. Some great pubs along the riverside

I like Wales too, provided you avoid the bigger cities. They've tried to split the difference between wholesome Welsh charm and the shopping culture of England, and it is just an ugly gentrified mess. Gotten worse in the decade since I've been here. I'm much more of a village and countryside type

Never been able to get into oasis. They always have such shitty production on the drums and guitars.

Although I've always been a bedroom listener and this sure ain't bedroom rock

The remaster of D'You Know What I Mean actually sounds pretty great, but yeah this album never did anything for me. Previous two are quality though.

I really tried to get into their first two but they did nothing for me. Then I found blur and I was all over that

Yeah to be honest I'm more of a blur person but I still think those first two are monumental and full of classic tracks. It was all downhill from there though.

Blur have an overall better discog, only album I'm a bit iffy on is 13, it has some amazing songs but whenever I listen to it I always come out feeling like shit. The Magic Whip is fantastic.

Isn't 13 their most depressing tho lyrically and sonically?

And magic whip may be my favorite blur album tbh.

Think tank is a close second. But s/t has coffee and tv and that's my fave blur song...

And don't get me wrong I think oasis are incredibly talented guys. Brilliant songwriters, and they know how to write a hook. But everything they do just grinds against my ears y'kno?

Well yeah so I'm sure that was the intended effect, I usually save it for special occasions.

Modern Life and Parklife are probably my two favourites, Great Escape gets some hate (I've heard people call it their Be Here Now) but I enjoy it.

I still have yet to get into their first [edit] 4 albums. Which is the better to start with? I heard they're really Brit-centric and a Californian like me may have a hard time getting into that

"Jim stops; gets out the car goes to a house in Emperors Gate, through the door and to his room then he puts the TV on. Turns it off and makes some tea says 'modern life well is rubbish I'm holding on for tomorrow."

Sing it arms aloft in the valley Nate dude.

got that one right zak, was wondering when you'd show up

"I heard they're really Brit-centric and a Californian like me may have a hard time getting into that"
they're very british which is why their later, more indie albums are more popular in america, give Modern Life a go you might like it

There's a melancholy and sadness behind Parklife and Modern Life and a sense of almost impending dread but at the same time there's the ever present of attitude of "best not make a fuss, let's get on with it". Very relatable even now.

Looking back Parklife was the greatest thing out in '94 but I've always preferred modern life.

Parklife was the absolute death knell to grunge for me. Kurt died Blur and Oasis came out and it was goodbye heroin chic hello racism and drunken 'lad culture' yobbishness

Best days ever :D
