yeah those abc club parties with Syd at the helm of floyd did look psychedelic and amazing. When Gilmour and Waters played WYWH back to him while they were recording it in the studio he said it sounded "old" lol.

"I dont feel too sad for him"
Yeah. If I was Syd, I'd be happy for two reasons:
Firstly, the best band of all time wouldn't have ever started without me, and
Secondly: I'd have two of the best songs ever written to me as a tribute

I do feel sorry for Syd. In the way that I feel sorry for people like Vincent van Gogh. They were creative geniuses whose artwork are still celebrated even after their death. but what they went through to be able to create their art was hellish if you think about it. Constant torment from the mind. Their genius came with a price.
"i wonder if people were ACTUALLY slipping him lsd in food."
- that actually wasn't uncommon in the '60s form what I've read. There was a lot of acid parties, where people just slipped LSD in every drink. I heard a story once, I think it was about the folk singer Donovan, or some other musician slipping LSD into his girlfriend's drink and her friends as well during a small party, and she apparently dumped him for it.

All genius comes with a price I think
But most of the time it's not such a devastating price as what happened to Van Gogh and Syd

Nothing on the devastation Marie Curie experienced after she basically discovered radioactivity.

some things just had to happen a certain way unfortunately..

Syd Barrett:
"We play for people to dance to - they don't seem to dance much now but that's the initial idea. So we play loudly and we're playing with electric guitars, so we're utilising all the volume and all the effects you can get. But now in fact we're trying to develop this by using the lights..."
