I liked Slug in the early 2000s - at the time his conversational style and lack of interest in out-rhyming everyone was pretty refreshing among all the lyrical spiritual miracle bullshit, but I do find myself less drawn to it these days than I once was.

He was definitely better in the early 2000’s but that was partially because I was also younger and less sensitive to cringe
But he’s flat out terrible now and Ant is still making some really interesting beats but they are ruined by Slug

Oh yeah the last one I tried was La Vida Local and I just could not stand the cringe enough to make it through more than a couple songs. Slug going for the same target audience as The National is hilarious. Midlife crisis picking the kids up from school rap doesn’t do it for me (maybe it will in my 40s but who knows)

Everything I’ve tried to listen to after Southsiders is like, depressed middle aged suburban single dad schtick. Get Sluggo has changed as a person but I am just not the target audience any more and I’m not sure I ever will be.
