Haven't heard Heart of the Corona but if it's better than this then yeah that's impressive.

Does anyone else think the first track is quite a bit above the rest?

no

the first track was the first thing youd ever heard from thsi band and then you sat on it. when you eventually heard the rest of the album you couldnt stop fantasizing about the first track guy

if youd listened to the whole album (initially) instead of just the first track you wouldnt be saying all that whack shit

'dude i just put this on to give due respect to a band whos been dishonored by this joker (ollieS) "yo man i only listen to

one song from bands and know its better than the rest hahahaha" '

But other times I've listened to one song off an album, then heard the whole thing, and found other tracks I liked a lot

more. At any rate, the first track here is the most melodic and changes atmosphere/feel enough (especially between

heavier and more melodic parts) to stay fresh and enjoyable for the whole duration. I mean, the last few minutes of

'Desert Shadows' are spectacular, but the rest of the song is pretty dull; for example, the changes in atmosphere/feel

aren't very exciting because despite them, the song remains sorta melodic and sorta heavy - these both cancel each

other out, and make the song blur together and drag on and on (until the end, which is epic - maybe because there are

some great melodies like those which are all over the first track).

Oh, and ftr, I didn't listen to the whole record straight away because I was waiting for the hard copy to arrive (which I

bought after hearing the first track).

yeah problem with most melo-death is it sounds catchy and what not but it does little to instill the listener with emotion and therefore leaving an empty feeling, like wtf just happened. it sounded cool but im not satisfied by any means

those are my thoughts toward the sub-genre
