But to me is just like a heavy Watchtower.
I've found myself thinking that if he had just slapped some vocals on this album he could have just called it the new Watchtower album and made a lot of people really happy (those waiting for "Mathematics" to come out like some poor GnR fan)... I think that Cocaine said it best:
Heavier Watchtower = Win. Watchtower without a vocalist = More win. Come on now!

The death metal sounds like its there but it sounds to me like they have integrated it into their sound a bit more. Isn't the music based upon death metal to begin with?

I'd have to agree with Cocaine that it's not really based on Death Metal, there are some elements in the songs, but I'd say that even Nevermore incorporates more Death elements then this band.

I don't like Nevermore
Because of the music or because of the vocals? For most people it's because of the vocals. I like his singing, but wish that his voice was a little stronger. For the record, this album doesn't sound like Nevermore at all... I was just making a statement about a band that's not death metal that incorporates more death metal influence then this band...

not death metal as such but very easy for a fan of tech or prog death to get into

yeah I figured what you meant by the reference, and it is mainly the vocals that I don't like. I've only heard This Godless Endeavour though

Nevermore sucks stop talking about them. Loomis is an overrated and annoying guitarist and Dane is a glorified David Draiman.
This is, if anything, based more in the technical thrash of Watchtower, just, as heavy metal kid said, heavier.

Nevermore could be a death metal band if it wasn't for their pussy vocalist.

Loomis = not overatted

Overratted = Yngwie

EDIT: Fuck, why isn't the spacing problem fixed yet?This Message Edited On 03.17.08

I guess Im making this claim because I associate a few of the band memebers with death metal bands. You and Coke are right though, now that I've given this another listen.

Oh, and Loomis is not overrated. Great guitarist. Warrel Dane does sound like David Draiman though ahahahaha. This Message Edited On 03.17.08

Hahahahaha he does to some degree. Not entirely obvious, but I can hear what Coke is getting at. At the same time, your taking my opinion into consideration. Evaluating lead singers is something I'm not skilled at. I'm all about the instruments. Hence why this album is amazing to these ears.

Somehow I didn't notice Coke's statement mentioning the same thing or I would have bitched back on the 8th when he first posted... I'm hoping he wasn't referring to actual vocal similarities and was getting at something else entirely... but probably not.
