good album... listening to it right now. Sounds like a cross between Swallow the sun and opeth. But unique none the less :D

Good to see this getting a bit of attention, I really don't see the Swallow the Sun connection though.

The vocals, mainly the deep growls, and also the doomish atmosphere at times.

Just downloaded and am listening now. On track 3.

This is amazing. I think this will be a 4.5. My only complaint so far is that weird part in the chorus of the title track where there is nothing but drums for a bout a second. That part annoyed me, seemed out of place. Other than that damn near perfect.

After one listen, I can say that this is at least a 4, but i'm leaning towards a 4.5, so I

shall keep it at that.

Incredibly solid album, very hard to pick highlights, but I think my favorites are The

Black Lodge, and In the Failing Hour.

On a separate note the cover art is absolutely amazing. This Message Edited On 02.25.08

That's what made me buy it :D

My favourites are definitely The Black Lodge (best song on the album) and By Others Considered.

Yeah those clean vocals about 3:30 minutes into The Black Lodge are epic as fuck.

They should have finished the album with TBL and then put Past October Skies somewhere in the middle, maybe just before the Failing Hour, because the Black Lodge just completely dwarfs that song where it is placed.

Sampling a few songs from their myspace page, this album is bought (when I can find it). Where do you discover these great bands Crimson? Your best review so far was Moonsorrow's new album because I can't put that album down for a day without listening to at least one of two tracks from it.

I always thought Moonsorrow were pretty well known, as for these sorts of bands, I don't know really, for example, I bought this album from a tiny shop down at a market near my house randomly, and it turned out to be 'effin brilliant, most of the time it's just lucky.

There's also a couple of websites that review a whole load of stuff daily, most of it's crap or just average but sometimes I'll find some pretty good stuff by them, I found Wyrd from a website, and they're one of my favourite bands now.

I wish I lived in the States (presuming you live there Crimson). Canada doesnt have good tiny record stores (well in Toronto there is) and most the time I have to order in. There is no such thing as accidently discovering a good heavy metal band in Canada (finding cds that is). Cocaine will tell you otherwise because he's from the Toronto area, but in London, Ontario...................nothing underground!

I live in Leeds :D

But yeah, I'm very lucky that I met a guy who runs this little shop who basically collects all this sort of stuff, there's In Flames stuff in there, Mercenary (hoping he gets their new one for me :D) and a whole load of stuff I've never heard of.

You guys have way more access to good music than we do. Every thing I order comes from the states and I always risk having to pay GST at the border (haven't had to yet thank god).

Crimson,

I wanted to visit Leeds, England when I was there a few years ago. Also, I did an urban design project on Leeds as well!

God this is fucking amazing...can't stop listening to it now. I think it may overtake Fortress in time.

I know it's early, but I predict that it's gonna be all out between this, Fortress, and Watershed for my favorite album of 08. I'm doing good though, I've only got 3 albums from this year so far and absolutely love all of them.

This reminds me a lot of MAYH era Opeth. Very similar atmosphere.

Anyone else feel like this album continuously builds momentum? I mean, we'll all have our favorite tracks of course, and there's "lulls" in the action so to speak, but for me, it feels like each song gets more and more intense (in many different ways depending on the track) until the last two songs just kick my a$$ into next week.

I'm liking this more and more every time I hear it. Much like Be'Lakor, I just can't believe this is In Mourning's debut. F**k yeahThis Message Edited On 02.26.08

Man, the lyrics for Amnesia are so damn fitting for the song, although I've only recently noticed that despite having labelled the song as Grand Denial, on the back of the booklet it does in fact say Grind... I've emailed the band about it, so will hopefully have a definite verdict.

Oh, anyone actually bought/considering buying the actual CD? You can get it for eighteen euro's if you email the Aftermath shop about it, and it's well worth it, if just for the odd CD case, I know I've ordered another to give to someone. This Message Edited On 02.26.08
