New song is pretty sick, definitely feels like a natural step from this one. Kinda miss the old vocalist but Tony Wolski sounds great

this was my comment on the news thread, posting here as well for the sake of discussion:
I'm really torn on this.
All the aspects that made Genghis Tron great are either non-existent or negligible at best on this track. Their signature vocals are entirely gone and replaced with bewilderingly hyper-generic cleans. The eerie synths pretty much make one cursory, fleeting, background appearance (which is probably still the best part of the song). The spasmodic drum machine percussion is replaced with what could largely be mistaken for an acoustic performance (is it???). The guitar work is almost there at times but mostly just makes me yearn for Board Up the House. If you listen really really closely you can hear that it's Genghis Tron, but just sitting back this could be literally any other competent mathcore/metalcore/etc band.
It's okay, but it's not the same, and what made Genghis Tron special is that they were... well... special. Irreplicable. But this on the other hand is just a cut above par.
At least it is better than the new HORSE songs
I'm still definitely going to listen to the alb when it comes out and if everything is on par it will be an enjoyable, but undeniably disappointing listen. Hoping this is kind of the 'single' of the album and everything else will have more teeth to it.

Really the most disappointing thing is the generic cleans

yeah song is meh
Hope it’s just a weak track on the album because if the whole thing sounds like that it’s gonna be a hard pass for me.

honestly there is a part of that track where they dont even sound like a metalcore/mathcore band and sort of reminded me of Muse for one weird second
i think Pots comment is fair, the track is competent but thats about it

lmao well i certainly didn't find this but yeah. competent. which is a lot less than i expect from GT although still more than I expect from pretty much any other metal/mathcore adjacent band these days at least lol.

weird that these guys just released new material, jammed this yesterday on a whim
from what I hear, though, it's not looking so hot
|

I've only heard scattered tracks off these guys but I'm digging the new single, even if it's pretty different from the older stuff.
