I remember liking I Am Legend when it came out

Ali is a pretty good performance. Hancock was an interesting little film amidst the superhero movie explosion. Smith isn't really a great actor but like most bankable mega movie stars, he used to have a certain charisma which he lost over time.

I Am Legend was good until the ending. Completely botched it. Hancock was cool up until the gods angle was discovered.

Apparently, Smith really shows his acting chops in the ‘Ali’ biopic—even though I haven’t seen it, I can believe that.

He can act… a lot of roles though just require him to turn up on star power alone.

he's really bad at picking blatantly obvious oscar-baity scripts that are horribly written, like seven pounds and especially collateral beauty. he can definitely act, but now that he's finally won that oscar he's chased for so many years, maybe he can focus on good movies now
