when i say classic rock i mean classic rock radio. in america. journey, boston, lynyrd skynyrd, acdc, led zepplin, the list goes on and on

Right, my point is that that's defined as "classic " by the generation who is between 45-65 years old now, so when radio stations are marketing classic rock to ppl my age (29) it will be Mastodon and their ilk.

this will definitely be considered "classic" 10-15 years down the road though, probably the most important "new" metal band

wrong. there will be no classic rock. it will just be old pop. shit like radioactive and fun. and stuff like that.



for it to be on the radio in the future in a 'classic' sense it would have to have been on the radio at some point. radio isn't gonna be playing something that never was all that popular to begin with

CtS is good, but is def a grower imo. Also, it lacks the sludge I hear on the first 3 records. The Hunter brought back a bit of the sludginess, but it feels less organic.

I think CtS was inspired on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, although personally I wouldn't say it was executed quite as well.
