I get that Frances has a lot of sections that kind of just plod along without accomplishing much, but when Frances is actually rocking, it just destroys anything that they did on Deloused or anywhere else for that matter. IDK I've listened to deloused so many fucking times and I really do like it but I've just never really been able to see why it's held in such high regard. I mean I think it's fucking great, but nothing on that album touches the high points of FtM for me.

De-Loused is king, Frances has too much ambient and wank bullshit. Only heard this a couple o times but it's pretty cool I really dig Ourobouros.

How many of you guys have seen The Mars Volta live? I've seen the 'Omar Rodriguez Group' live which was Omar, Juan Alderete and Deantoni Parks, and they were really great! I'd love to hear any stories that anybody has.

Saw them in Michigan in like 2005... opened for RHCP, they were touring in support of Amputechture. show ruled. they played tetragrammaton and day of the baphomets and a bunch of frances. but they went a little overboard with the trippy ambient stuff and a lot of the crowd lost interest.

2008 in Toronto: they were the headliner and this show was flat-out amazing. they were so tight. all the improv jams were really really good. and Pridgen was insane.

2009 at Bonnaroo: in support of Octahedron. they played during the day and it seemed like a bit of an off day for them. decent show, but nothing like the Toronto show. mind you, Octahedron is prob my least favourite Volta album.

@stabbler... yeah man! the crowd's reaction when they opened with Roulette Dares is one of those concert experiences I'll never forget. amazing show indeed.
