nah she had one of the most influential female singing styles of the time period. You were like 5-7 years old at the time so I'm sure you weren't going to shows hearing all the bands that did her style

Both WIM albums are good, imo.

"I find this singer overrated"

I don't think Hayley is overrated at all, I just wish her popularity hadn't skyrocketed.

I hate the new stuff too. I wish they would have never changed after Riot.

ahh the good old days where there were a million fantastic local post-hardcore, screamo, emo, and metalcore bands that played all over the place. all the local venues where they played have closed down and you gotta go to sf for a show now to see bands that never open up the fucking pit. music isn't even fun anymore:/

I've only been to two shows in my life, so I can't say that I feel the same.

I saw See You Next Tuesday and From a Second Story Window in 2007, and I saw War of Ages three weeks ago.

damn that kinda sucks dude. I don't go to shows much anymore because the scene died a long time ago but back then it was like 1 or 2 a week. and almost all of those bands never even released recordings of their stuff and it's just lost with time. some of the best bands I've ever heard too. Truly some of the most fun times of my life. I hung out with several bands a lot so I would go to shows they played at and found lots of bands that way. They were all really inspiring.

what artists were those two shows?

"Not a fan of live music?"

Nah, I love live music. There are three reasons why I never really went to shows though:

1.) I never had any friends who listen to the same type of music I do.

2.) I live in a desolate area, and not only are the closest cities where shows occur over an hour away, I also hate driving in the city in general.

3.) I've been battling with anxiety all of my life, and I'm always afraid I'll have an anxiety attack if I go to a show.

those are decent reasons. I live in the bay area and there were a lot of shows going on back then and like I said I knew people that would play at the kind of shows I wanted to go to. Anxiety is hard but when the lights go down, the guitar starts playing and fists are flying it's all good and it's easier to let go of it. there was definitely a whole 'peacocking' vibe with people's looks that could get really lame though.

nah not rip dude, they regrouped and play shows again ;) keeping the scene on life support

I just recently got some anxiety medication, but I'm afraid to take it because I don't want to get hooked on shit. Beginning to feel like it's my only option though which sucks.

@Fox You're right about the anxiety thing at shows. It's all mental, and when the music is going, anxiety is the last thing on my mind. I also completely forgot that SYNt started doing shows again. Praying for some new music.

agreed. I would really love some new music from them, I would be hyped. There are so many bands I love that I'm forever waiting for more releases from. they need to make up for Intervals, I wasn't that into it. maybe it could use a revisit though.

Agreed that Intervals wasn't good. I want the scenegrind revival to happen.

me too I fucking love grind it's just the best. only people our age would care though, I have the feeling kids these days couldn't give less of a fuck about anything grind related.

If you have twenty minutes to spare, check See You Next Tuesday - Parasite. That will explain it better than any description I can give.

The youngsters these days want trap music which might be the exact opposite of grind.
