It's always been a 4.9 for me, but I just can't 5 it, however much it kills me, because of the closer. I still don't get it. Would have been better to end on those bloodchilling wails that end Bloodbirds.

This album wouldn't be complete without Part 3. I also would argue that it's not complete without Scars of the Shattered Sky... just a stunning epilogue.

Scars is great, I just don't like Part 3, and I love ambient. Maybe because I've always hated drone music....

It's very droney and also noisy. Not your typical ambient track. I've always thought it was one of the best parts of the album.

I've always felt a very spiritual connection to Agalloch, and after reading in the booklet how part 3 was dedicated to somebody (I'm assuming a friend of theirs who passed away), I've always felt like shit for not liking it, but I still don't get it, haha

lol you're under no obligation to like everything a band does dude, don't worry about it

I'd say it's an unusual track and it's best to appreciate it for what it is rather than for what it isn't. IMO it does what it sets out to do perfectly.
