It's Zappa's granddaughter, I approve! That's adorable.

"Gumbo" [2], but "Peaches" comes close.

Not a fan of "Willie" because of Captain's vocals, it's strange because I can't think of one Magic song I wouldn't love him in, but on all the Zappa pieces he sounds so awful - unnatural? fed up? disgusted? I don't know how to describe his voice exactly but he sounds terrible to me.

Peaches and Willie are perfect entry point Zappa tunes, but once you get accustomed to this and his other albums, it's stuff like Little Umbrellas and Gumbo that outshine the others. That's not saying too much since Peaches and Willie are both classics in their own right.

I don't agree that Hot Rats is a good Zappa intro honestly

I feel like it gives people the wrong impression of him.

I usually rec Apostrophe first

I guess I can understand since it bored the living hell out of me, but that was like five years ago.

I notice you rec Joe's Garage, which would be fine if it wasn't so overblown in some parts. I'd say the best of the best to rec would be

Apostrophe

Absolutely Free

Over-nite Sensation

The Grand Wazoo

Joe's Garage was the album that started my Zappa obsession so I'm a bit biased

Considering Absolutely Free was the one that sealed the deal for me, I got ya on that

I don't know, I still think it gives the listener that wrong impression of Zappa

Well at the time I was going on a progressive rock spree, so naturally finding Zappa was like finding a gold mine.

I really like the more thoroughly composed material on here, I could do without the endless jams. Peaches en regalia and little umbrellas are my favourites.
