t(h)rashy production

I feel that the thrash list I feel is indicative of your production tastes.
Though judging by that response I might be talking out of my ass
|
| |
i like to think that i can appreciate a multitude of production styles, and that which is "better" depends on what the musician(s) are trying to do
its funny u bring up the list because i actually wrote re: demolition hammer just how much having the "right" sound for your ideas can enhance the end result
|
| |
how does this page has Silverchair s cover?
|
| |
but yea to your point its not impossible that im not fully 100% aware of each and every single one of my biases
im probably more lenient than most people i think, but i dont lap up every shitty sounding metal demo like i used to either... i mean hell i love sadus, but dtp is just tinnitus hell to me these days

I guess trashy was the wrong word. I guess what I’m saying is that I can see why you would gravitate towards Helmet’s debut more than their more polished output
Also I briefly checked out Demolition Hammer and I can easily what you mean by having the right sound enhancing your ideas because the production to all three of their releases are really good
|
| |
oh idk i just think strap it on has the "purest" non-streamlined form of their sound
|
| |
admittedly its been a while since ive heard betty or meantime in full, but i dont recall there being any moments really that just... revel in the fucking noise, the way that sinatra or murder do on the debut
|
| |
I’d say He Feels Bad is the closest the band has to Murder or Sinatra post-Strap It On, but you’re right I wished they did more moodier tracks like those two songs
|
| |
Makes me so angry that this got frogstomp'd haha
|
| |
I hate that damn frog so much
|
| |
Wtf is up with the album cover..?
|
| |
It honestly makes so much sense that the production was done by a hip hop producer because this has almost the same production as a boom bap record

Man I wish Henry Bogdan got the same amount of love as Page and Stanier get. THAT slide bassline on Biscuits For Smut is so fun to learn even if it is an utter fingerfucker in every sense of the word.

Bass is heavy as balls. It’s 90% the reason why milquetoast destroys
|
| |
Bogdan’s bass tone and his bass fills have been incredibly influential to my bass playing. While not a bass shredder by any means his bass playing has a distinct character to it.
I will say though Helmet’s current bassist is also really good. He’s the bassist to Afterbirth, which is a fantastic proggy brutal death metal band that everyone should check out.

Yeah WTF is with that frog? lol
|
| |
Was Biscuits for Smut recorded with a fretless bass? It looks like Bogdan is playing a fretless in the video
