It's essential to listen to this with both CD's combined. The issue is the album itself and its accompanying album have very high volume. It's impossible to just combine both without some editing or else you are going to get clipping and saturation; so you have to lower the actual songs volume a bit and then significantly lower the volume of the accompanying ambient songs. I made several tests and my advice is lowering the CD1 songs at least -0.40 dB and lower the CD2 ambient songs volume to -3.20 dB before mixing them. You'll see it works seamlessly.
