Yeah VII is pretty meh. VIII is better though!

Didn't like the production in that album, it sounded way too clean for my taste. Also didn't like Kvarforth's clean vocals even though he later improved it. The opressive atmosphere disappeared in that album (in VII is missing too but that's other story).

I just think the guitars are incredible. I really loved all the shredding solos and HUGE riffs. It's a pretty stark contrast to the minimalist approach taken by other DSBM bands. That and I thought Kvarforth's performance was a cut above his previous work. In IV and V he tried out a lot of new things with mixed success. But he really killed it on VI.

so is the cowbell moment in "Lat Oss Ta Allt" supposed to be off-puttingly funny, or super srs krieg? Because I found it to be the former.

I havent heard these guys, but I caught the Norwegians live when they were on tour with Periphery and DTP. Pretty great live show and I definitely enjoyed their originals more than the cover of 20th Century Schizoid Man that they do to pander to audiences.
