the songwriting isn't even that good. sure, cobain did write some very good stuff, but I think it was mainly the right thing at the right time. This album is pretty poor anyway.

Good review. I don't agree with it, BUT I do see where ur coming from for sure. ....it's all cool tho. Personally for me AeroZeppelin, Stain, Aneurysm, Dive, Been A Son, and Sliver are just too good in my opinion to leave this album with a merely average rating. I will admit that the cover songs do tire easily, and a "punked up" version of "Polly" (which works waaay better as an acoustic number) just aren't enough to warrent a 3.5 or higher.
I'd score this a 3, but I suppose a high 3...lol like 3 1/4

2.5? you must be joking , songs you d mentioned like Aneurysm
Beeswax, Sliver , Dive , hairspray queen and Aero Zeppelin , downer (from bleach perhaps )are just unique in grunge scene ,,,just compare this album with uncountable so-called grunge albums by afromentioned Screeaming trees in which there are a few highlights that no way can be compared with these revolutionary anarchistic miracles , albeit there are better works by Nirvana which considered as masterpiece and stuff...(I have no idea about covers)
As a whole body of work which every album means to be , your opinion is accepted..but your overall view is just not fair.even if the poorest which is totally wrong yet better than too many, much more overrated wanna-be grunge albums out there
