Strange album. First half has quite a few cringey moments, "Non-Objective" is an improvement, and the last two songs are nigh transcendent

Didn't like this when it first dropped. I went back and listened for the first time in a looooong time and I appreciate it a lot more but it still leaves me cold.
Not sure why, I should love it but I can't put my finger on the problem. Vocals? Yeah, they'll never do it for me but there are other bands whose vocals I'm not a fan of but I still love the album. Instrumentation? I'm finding coming back to it now that I really enjoy quite a bit of it
I guess it's just the way it's all put together? It just feels immature to my ear. I wish they were doing more because I'd likely enjoy them a lot more as they grew over time.

revisiting any of this gives me a solid 10 secs of questioning if anything is real especially my memories or feelings or the music, and then it all kinda makes sense

I should revisit this been so long lol

When I first heard this back in hs it was an immediate 5/5, but there was a solid 5 or 6 years in my 20s where I had this at 2.5. I came back to it recently and I fell in love with it all over again. It's an album I can def see people not appreciating for multiple reasons but it's undeniably one of the most creative records in the genre. The followup is so fucking disappointing though
