think this would be their best album if tracks 4-7 were replaced by a few "regular" songs

milk lizard through the end of the album is probably the best five track run in their entire discog

From the looks of it, probably.

Your semi hot-take isn't really saying much. 'Calculating Infinity' was their insanely-good debut album. Their personnel changed, whilst keeping the quality but had a new singer with an ear for a catchy hook (ergo more commercial appeal whilst retaining core traits). That's the band's trajectory.

hard to understand much in here with this toxic echo chamber in full effect. your description accurately describes the bait and switch that happened while accruing cred on the live show front playing 43% burnt every night they possibly could.

You're describing a reality that's not the shared one we're living in.

"Toxic echo chamber"... nothing toxic about it. If you don't like the album/Greg, absolutely fine. I've had several civil discussions with people here that have expressed just that. It's your rationale that's being brought into question, not your personal taste.

"Bait and switch"... WTF? A band plays one of their classics, that sits with the rest of their discography. This is my favourite album of theirs, CI is my third. That's it, nothing more. You're suggesting a whole shitload of problems where there are none. That's a YOU thing.
