that part gives me CRAZY chills every time
especially with bass boosted in a car, just blasting it thru the speakers

Whenever a band plays like their instruments are tapping into all the pain in the world and crying out, they’re doing it right.

I love every song on here but I’m starting to realize Concubine probably has always been my least favorite of the record

my least favorite is "phoenix in flight," but I'd put "concubine" right above that (i.e. second to last). I like "concubine" more than I do now as a pure blast of energy but like...how could you prefer it to the song that comes right after?? "homewrecker" 3rd worst, actually like "in flames"

Maybe I need to listen to this again but man I have a hard time getting into these guys. I think the only album I've returned to (willingly, anyway) is 'All We Love We Leave Behind'. Everything else ranges from good-but-hardly-earth-shattering (e.g. this) to aggressively meh (e.g. 'Axe to Fall').

have you tried the you fail me redux? a 3 on this is foolish but perhaps we can turn you around :
not like I enjoyed this very quickly tho. altho I always liked "fault and fracture"

Have not. A solid 2.5 on the regular 'You Fail Me' - is the "redux" release different enough to possibly engender a different opinion?

the redux sounds massive--might open up a new perspective for you

I think the original is excellent but the other one is way better. hard to say if the production smothered the songwriting for you, or maybe you just dont like their Songz, but I'd say give it a shot--it sounds basically like AWLWLB in terms of production, just with the you fail me songs. lol

i think the redux cemented yfm as my favorite verge

such a toss up between that and this, i'm trying to even think of how i could pro/con it out. I guess the production of YFMR def wins but otherwise whooooo boy

Somehow didn't initially see just how much Redux elevated the recordings, but I've seen the light, and now it's the obvious go to verison.

I don’t think I’ve listened to the original since the redux came out

I still mostly listen to the OG YFM recording when I go back. You Fail Me feels like a darker album than Jane, somehow.

tect’s 3 is more blasphemous than a hard 1, I simply cannot accept such indifference. AWLWLB and AtF are their most accessible ‘good’ albums (Dusk is disqualified under this criteria).

still on the fence between the og and the redux; a lot of songs are improved on the latter but it actually hinders the t/t, which is far and away the best one from the album

Yeah, the redux sounds a bit more modern and compressed/punchy, but there's a nice dirt/atmosphere to the original, too. I definitely come back to both. I agree that the t/t feels neutered somehow on the redux.

I will give this another shot soon, fellas. Swear it. Also the redux. Just respun 'All We Love' and confirmed that do indeed like it more than I can recall liking any other Converge album. Strangely enough, I had that rated at 3.0, too. But I'm pretty certain I prefer that to this, so might have to bump it to a 3.5.

Idk, if metalcore isn't your thing, an ear for it won't come overnight. Judging from your ratings, you prefer stuff a little less straight-forward and obviously aggressive than this.

Band is such shit I wrote/recorded a song in their style and it was fun.
