This album is amazing musically (the guitarwork is fucking sick) but the vocals ruin it so much for me. This is a 3, mostly because of that. If these guys would ditch Gossow and get a good shrieker, this could be 4 material.

My friend kept raving about this band to me. Reading everyone's comments, I know that once again his music tastes suck.

It's the best thing about this album. I think the riffs do get really repetitive but the guitarists do have a lot of talent. This is still a 2 for me, I haven't listened to this in its entirety for months, I can't get myself to do it.

It's not a 2 star album IMO. It's way better than Anthems of Rebellion, probably just as good as Doomsday Machine, though certainly not as good as Wases of Sin.

Yes, the vocals suck (they usually do), but I just shift them out of the way while listening. The album has some amazing moments.

This is Arch Enemy's worst album. Even thr guitar riffs are mediocre compared to their previous albums. The solos are the only redeeming quality but the riffs are so boring.

I wouldnt say that this is better than Anthems Of Rebellion, but its definitely better than Doomsday Machine.

Disagree.

First of all, the production on Anthems is very poor. It lacks clarity within the mix, and is very unflattering, also, it lacks memorabilia, there are only like three good songs on that album, compared to this which for me has about eight. This Message Edited On 05.04.08This Message Edited On 05.04.08

Production doesnt bother me on any albums. I listen to Nattens Madrigal by Ulver and Transilvanian Hunger by Darkthrone all the time. Those albums have way worse production than Anthems Of Rebellion.

I would like to agree with you, unfortunately this album has nothing memorable. It has better production but they really didn't try to write a riff on any song that was different from their previous stuff. Same old, same old.

Production for me, is very important.

Wizard:

Indeed, that is correct... I don't really have a counter argument for that because it is in fact entirely correct.

What I will say though, is that while the riffs and even songs are nothing new, they still manage to find their own place in my ear.

Both "Anthems Of Rebellion" and "Doomsday Machine" are way better than this. Hell, the song "Dead Eyes See No Future" is better than this entire album.

Thank you taylormemer for realizing that its just an opinion which some people just can't get past on this website. I'm glad you also realize that taste in music is very subjective. Your opinion is respected by me no matter what you listen to!

I agree that Anthems Of Rebellion is better than this, but not Doomsdar Machine. Dead Eyes See No Future is my favorite Arch Enemy song, but saying its better than the whole album is going a little far lol.

Sure, Dead Eyes is an awesome song, particularly in its lead line, but so is The Last Enemy, Intermezzo Liberte, Vultures and The Day You Died...

What if he listens to Rick Astley every day, and makes a habit of rickrolling someone whenever he gets the chance?

It's going a little far... but it's the truth.
