It's kind of insane how these guys went from sloppy but fun at times deathcore to being one of the biggest bands in the world.

i'm all for it though, i discovered them randomly on a wikipedia article because of the song "fuck" in early 2013 and then someone linked me crucify me and it's been all downhill from there for me according to the purists

ive seen you mention the purists in the sleep token thread
my advice is just ignore them completely. ive been into metalcore for like 14 years now and there was only a brief period where i cared about the perception of metalcore in metal circles (getting worked up when people said metalcore was all whiny shit and trying to show metalheads converge and botch and having them tell me they werent metalcore, just 'heavy hardcore' or some shit )
just focus on your love of music and listening to the music you enjoy/are interested in
stopping hate listening for example. i only listened to a few tracks from that sleep token lp before i knew it wasnt for me at all.

@mort: tbh the issue for me comes when it's time to try and branch out and find more stuff in "real metal" that scratches the same itch I need - post-metal and gothic death-doom has been basically the only real CONSISTENT luck - because any time i try to find new stuff from metal groups i'm either sent shit that doesnt even come close, or mocked and dehumanized for wanting certain vibes. (e.g: "you need to embrace the cheese, wanting what you want is POSER shit")
i try not to hate listen but sometimes i feel masochistic and want to listen to some garbage to really keep myself in check and not turn into a blind consoomer. and other times i genuinely want to give something a chance bc the hype - pain remains for instance, first-rounded color decay by tdwp in a group poll i was in, and color decay is way better written imo.
"Oh when you said Lotus Eater, I confused them with Lotus Eater Machine and was A.) really scared to discover they were shits and B.)Wondering what the fuck Oli was doing on one of their tracks lol"
LOL I feel that. Nah Lotus Eater is a whole different can of worms.

i really felt like it was so one-note and that pray for plagues was the only memorable song
who knew these dudes would go on to write one of my top 5 albums of all time from this slog of a debut

What the fuck is the Lil Uzi vert feature on his Pink Tape album?!
They’re pulling off a Deftones style so well it completely blew me away, speaks volumes about their versatility. If they wanted they could write some good deathcore songs still

This steady stream of collaborations is giving them a much better platform to get bigger and more exposure than more frequent albums. I prefer to have less songs more often
