It's more... I guess I'd say his affect? He just has a particular way of enunciating and projecting that makes him sound very tightly-wound, in a way that can sometimes detract from the material.
Like I said, he mostly sounds okay on here though

Also wow this is good, the only song that didn't really impress me was Dislocated Day and even that one was decent

Did you listen to the extended edition with Stars Die on it?

Album Rating: 4.0
I did not! I'll get into the bonus tracks when I relisten, which will probably be soon

Hell yeah! Much as I love Dislocated Day, Stars Die woulda fit so much more snugly on the album with the drifty sort of spaced out vibe.
Plus probably some of ol' Stevie's first really good pop songwriting, killer killer tune and the bassline on it mmmm can't get enough of Stars Die

any combination of Steve albums are an acceptable top 3
so long as this and Signify are two of them

@Rowan: Absolutely. That one should have definitely replaced Dislocated Day on the original single-disc release of this album

And yeah Johnny, Signify is still my personal favorite. Although FOABP still takes that second spot

The part where the bass groove kicks in on SMS phase 1 is like almost straight-up psytrance
Ppl love to talk about how these guys ripped off Floyd but they added a ton of modern influences and really tried to evolve and adapt to the time they were in

7th favorite PT, but still excellent imo
|

Is that a TARDIS on the cover?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Could be, not sure. I’d like to think it’s just a dreamy, psychedelic image not connected to anything like Doctor Who.
I should clarify that the 2004 remastered version is my 2nd favorite PT, with Stars Die included.
