I had this at a 4 myself for a while but I upped it after a few more listens. This is the underrated Opeth album, if such a thing exists.

i would agree. seems to be maligned regularly, when it's really quite consistent

I could not disagree with this review more. Opeth, while one of my favorite bands, can get pretty spotty. This, however, is a nearly perfect incarnation of their formula.

This is probably their worst album in my opinion, it doesn't have the emotion that Blackwater Park, Morningrise or My Arms, Your Hearse has.

Deliverance (the song) is still brutal as hell though. Me likes this CD quite a bit.

Every time I listen to this album I skip Wreath. I like it, but it just doesnt compare to the rest of the album

Except that it's better than Deliverance, BTPISIO, and Masters Apprentices (sometimes).

You are obviously listening to this as a casual listen.

yeah i really like this, probably more than blackwater park. the dry vocals annoyed me at first but they give the album a distinct harshness.

Grew quite a bit on me. A Fair Judgement and Deliverance kick ass.
