but listening to her solo stuff really shows just how average she is.
I think of it as the Annie Lennox/Allison Moyet of the 2000's. Really good voice, average musician.
Of course, Tarja has the disadvantage that she seems to be slacking off these days. Listen to live clips of her from the Once tour and afterward, and she's getting progressively worse. Hearing her try to do Wish I Had an Angel at Lowlands was painful.
Plus after I read more into the reasons why Nightwish fired her, I've come to the conclusion that she's kind of a wench.
If you're in the mood for a good laugh, say that on YouTube on one of her videos. I once saw someone respond to such a remark by calling the person who said it a child molester and went on to refer to Tuomas as "that evil faggot."

all nightwish/tarja fans are deluded in the first place to think this is good music so

"Haha, I never listen to this band."

After having this album for a long time and listening to it off and on, it's finally grown on me enough to go from a 3 to a 3.5 which is higher than any other Nightwish album.

I love "The Islander", one of the most beautiful tunes I've ever heard. The music video adds so much depth to the feelings of loss and remembrance the lyrics evoke. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2sd8UMUaIk

I still think this band is absolute cheese, but I really enjoy this new singer much, much more. Cadence of her last breath and Master Passion Greed are my favourite Nightwosh songs so far.

I really can't listen to Master Passion Greed. I love the thrash in the beginning, but can't stand the vocals.
|
| |
Yeah I really only like the music. The singing is cheesy and alright though.

Cadence of Her Last Breath is the worst song Nightwish has ever done.

even though it's subpar I can't agree at all

just everything about it makes me cringe. I really can't think of a worse song than it.

I dunno I think it's pretty catchy. "Whoever Brings the Night" is my least favorite on this, it does nothing for me.

Whoever Brings The Night is soooo catchy, especially live when she sings the chorus it's hot

best song on here is probably Poet or Escapist

you really can't pick between those?
|

Well Poet pretty much blows every Nightwish song out of the water for me, but Escapist is a fantastic track too, Anette uses her entire powerful range in it. And what's more she can pull it off live.
|
| |
I have no idea what they were thinking to make Escapist a bonus track. Escapist and Dark Chest of Wonders are the only songs that successfully bring the full epicness that Nightwish is capable of down to normal-song length.

This was a great album imo. I mean poet and the pendulum made me bust a nut.

Bad album. It's not the fault of the singer, either. The songwriting isn't as good. But Poet and the Pendulum is among the best Nightwish songs. Nowhere near the best, though.

Excellent album. Singer shines through. Great songwriting as always from Tuomas. Poet and the Pendulum is the best Nightwish song ever. Definitely the best
Just thought I'd fix that up a bit for you
