yeah this album is good, but I'm so used to seeing beautiful women in these roles that I scratch my head when there's an average-looking bloke as the lead, this has opened my eyes, I'm serious, I am sorry

Theoretically this is top tier
In practice it’s tier 3/4 (out of idk 15 tiers)
Wonder why?
Is it the presence of males?

Semi-serious answer: I connect with Blue Lines more, but this is a textural marvel in its own right. I'm just all about those wholesome feels and this has always maintained a certain iciness I cannot penetrate, relatively speaking (still fantastic)
In theory this should be Demoncore in the year of our lord 2023* (haven't heard it in '24 yet so hmm...)

Blue Lines is a fave of all time record for me. This is obviously amazing, but similar to what Demon is describing, to me it does not connect in the same way Blue Lines does.

"Blue Lines" is trippy, floating around gently, while "Mezzanine" wants to tear the head off, always drags me back to reality. A huge difference indeed.
