The Saddest Day, Dead, and Color Me Blood Red were my favorites, glad I finally jammed this. WFCC is next

I used to prefer this to Jane Doe way back when. It’s still pretty damn good

“The Saddest Day, Dead, and Color Me Blood Red were my favorites”
Ugh I fucking love Dead.
And I’m sorry but this doesn’t touch Jane.

this has really solidified itself as one of my fave Converge albums. it used to feel like I was just listening to this for The Saddest Day but nah every song rips

I bet Jacob's cleans are intentionally hideous, i mean, they must be

Part of the appeal for his clean singing is its shittyness

Nah, his vocal chords are just shredded from his screaming technique. I feel like he's less confident in his cleans honestly, but I welcome them when they show up. Especially later on in the discog. I love the dude's vocals and lyrics though. Walls and walls of pain.

What's funny about that? This album is fun as fucking fuck, but the riffs/sections don't really transition to one another smoothly. The songs are just kinda riff salad. I feel like from Jane on they became much more cohesive songwriters. This is just "slayer-core" like they say. They start really defining themselves with Downpour/Serial Killer & WFCC and beyond.
