18 bucks is nothing for this. I would pay 40 if I had to.

Still haven't listened to the second track off of here, but the last ten minutes of Jaasta are just plain amazing. This is coming from someone who doesn't like screaming vocals that much, I can only tolerate Michael Stanne, Anders from In Flames, and Alexi Lahio, with the two latter being vocalists most people don't like, lol.

Maybe I can tolerate it because I have no clue what he is saying.

It's so refreshing and invigorating to hear a band that can just jam for a half hour straight and sound so fluid and introspective and heavy and pained and empowered and...

There's an assload of emotion spewing forth here, from every instrument, and even in the other-language vocals, nothing like what I ever would have expected. Awesome stuff.

I never thought I would like an album from 07 more than Colors....but now I do. This is my top album from 07 now...pure bliss. I'm considering a 5, but im not sure i want to give a recent album classic status yet.

I wish I got this earlier.

Still haven't heard the second track yet, lol, I dunno when I ever will, but here is the thing for me with this.

Jaasta is such a long long song that I can't listen to it all at once, I have to take bits and pieces of it at a time. So thank you youtube user who put that song into three parts.

Also, I have only heard the full song of Jaasta about three times, but it's so phenomenal that this deserves a four.

I've heard all of Jaasta, which is half the album, but I haven't heard the second track because I can't find it anywhere, lol.

Thus me saying, "Also, I have only heard the full song of Jaasta about three times, but it's so phenomenal that this deserves a four."

lol, well then I couldn't rate most of the albums that I have rated because there are many where I just couldn't find a song or two.

I believe it was Crimson had a top 10 list where he placed this 2nd or 3rd saying it only missed the top spot cause of how demanding it is, and I totally agree. This is, as of now, my favorite album of all time, but it most definitely requires you to just sit and listen for an hour straight, no interruptions, no distractions, all the while listening super-close for all the crazy little fine-tunnings and tonal changes and such. That kind of commitment can't be discounted and as such, this album just isn't for everyone, sadly . I'm just glad I found it, or rather that sputnik and crimson got it out there/here. Changed my whole perspective of music. This Message Edited On 01.29.08

Finally got this, listened to it 3 times over, decided it is amazing but it takes a while for the songs to get started... well mainly the first which takes 6 minutes-ish. Second one only takes a minute. Might seem a bit hypocritical because I've rated a 40 minute song a 5 but I'm sure if I listen to this some more I might come around and up it, it is really awesome.

I enjoyed the bass on throughout I think, but there were some moments where the bass really shined. Melodies were good too and the folk-ish elements weren't that bad.

edit- looking forward to their latest (its an EP right?) but should I get the album before this? This Message Edited On 04.30.08This Message Edited On 04.30.08

Verisakeet is quite amazing as well. I'm pretty biased towards this, but I guess I'm biased towards Moonsorrow in general lol. But yeah, this thing is uber-demanding, you really have it give it almost TOO much attention to really get into it, I had to listen to it about 6 or 7 times before I decided it was the greatest thing I'd ever heard.

The new EP is awesome too.

Not really, i loved it first listen. Then again, I was expecting slow build up considering they were two 20min songs.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed it first listen as well, but after a few more listens I realized that basically the entire album is building up to the last 4 minutes or so of the second track. That's when it all hit me.

So yeah, I actually got around to listening to this, the whole thing, in the same sitting. Two 25+ minute tracks isn't really what I call having a good time but this is pretty solid.

If you want a "good time" yeah, this is not the album to go to lol

not that you can't have a good time with this, it's just many other albums would suit that purpose better. This is more of a "I would like to embark on a long and arduous epic journey" album. This Message Edited On 06.27.08

Well said! I was putting panels on a fence yesterday while listening to this album. My mind was adrift within the first minute of the first track. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to a 5. Album is ALMOST perfect. I don't know why people complain about the length. This Message Edited On 06.27.08
