Having now listened to this, it sounds like a mixture of post-rock and grunge.

This is a beautiful and haunting album.

I think Washer has a pretty safe spot in my top 15 songs of all time

Very possible for me as well. My friend and I were talking yesterday about how unique and strange this album is, there's really nothing else out there like it. Leaves Turn Inside You is the only other album I've heard before that does some similar things.

Lots of stuff sounds (sorta) like this (Mainly because it's been ripped off by a million slowcore and post rock and emo and etc bands), but I can't really think of that many capture the rush conflicting emotions and apathetic thoughts that come with suicidal depression as perfectly as 'Washer' or guitars that capture the somber and ominous legitimate fear of nightmares the way 'Nosferatu Man' can. And other things I could say about this amazing record - This has really creepy-crawled its way to my head.

That said, Codeine - Frigid Stars is pretty close to this, as far as songwriting goes, though it's much noisier; But 'Cigarette Machine' is straight up a Spiderland song before Spiderland came out.

It's enigmatic and affects everyone in a different, but powerful way.

"It's pretty weird."

This is one of the most dissociated albums out there, so in that respect yes it's kinda weird
