Same complaint as Panopticon. But this albums has more of the vocals that really don't work well.

I saw these guys open for TOOL on tuesday. These guys are amazing sonicly. They only played for about 40 mins and i wish they played longer but fans were growing restless for the main event. I strongly reccomend checking these guys out.

Anyone else think "Hym" is one of the greatest songs of all time?

These guys are great.

They are one of my favourite bands, below Tool (second), and Opeth (first).

Ok I used to think this album was 4.5 but after listening to it for 3 months, I have changed my mind. It's a 5. Isis just develop their songs so well. The longer their songs are, the more I like them. I must have listened to this album 30 or 40 times. It just keeps getting better.

Mudvaynian,

Isis is really not for everyone. But, if you really listen and pick up on the what they are trying to show as a whole, you will get into them really fast. Other than that, this is not a band for people who like their songs short, sweet, and to the point. These guys write expansiver numbers that must be taken in with a single listen. At least thats how I see it.

Im not one to say that people dont understand music, its how far you want to open your mind and listen (not in a hippy, pot smoking way either).

Neurosis slaps them around with a big dismembered penis, though. No denying that.

^^ True that. But Neurosis is the only band with a penis big enough to slap Isis around with. Isis owns all else.

I think that there is a tone that Isis have to their music that one either likes or doesn't. If the "isis sound" doesn't grab you (and it's not all that accessible anyway), then I can imagine that their songs would seem to drag interminably. On the other hand, once you get a taste for their music - you won't be able to get enough. Well, anyway that's how it was for me.

Maybe I should get some Neurosis.
