I feel weird calling White Pony nu-metal because it's so much more melodic and atmospheric than pretty much any nu-metal album I can think of. Deftones are kind of their own thing. Their first 2 albums are a bit closer to the style of nu-metal but even then they had their own unique sound.
When I think nu-metal I think of a much more aggressive, rhythmic style like these guys, Korn, Slipknot, SOAD, etc

Honestly I wouldn’t consider this nu Metal. But if we’re considering this and White Pony nu Metal, they’re both at the top and I actually have a difficult time choosing which one is better. This is THAT good.

TheWonder, I actually like Lost and Found quite a bit as well but no chance in hell it tops LD. At least for me. This is a masterpiece, while L & F is just a very enjoyable, radio friendly hard rock/metal record.?

Mudvayne is not and has never been a nu-metal band
As a progressive rock composer, I have authority on what is and what is not progressive rock. Tool does not belong within this categorization, despite their reputation as a "technical" band, because Tool's riffs and composition structure fall more in line with alternative music. Pink Floyd is a pop band and doesn't have an itch in common with progressive rock.
