Just so it's common knowledge, iaretherobotics2 gave this a 1.5.

This is pretty bad so a 1.5 is pretty believable. I wouldn't be so harsh but I couldn't justify anything more than a 2.5

it's a great album, no doubt, but even so you're definitely giving it more praise than it deserves. it's innovative but it's not THAT innovative. i'm referring to statements like "unlike anything else around today" and "perfected a style that none other have been able to produce."

Unexpect, Peccatum, Sigh, and especially Arcturus, for starters. the territory's been covered before, and not only that, it's been covered to near-perfection if not perfection itself(La Masquerade Infernale being the most obvious case).

i'm not saying this isn't a good album, in fact as i said before, it's a great album. it's a lot better than Unexpect and Sigh, in my opinion(as it's more coherent). but it's not quite as brutally and historically impactive as it would need to be in order to justify the aforementioned statements. its precedents far outweigh its contributions.

If you'll excuse a bad pun, this album is devilishly original.

This album is sporadic, diverse, and downright strange... And I couldn't love it more.

Is this better than Pandora's Pinata? My first time listening to DSO and instantly felt the need to try out their first 2. Could end up my favorite band of recent times if they're always that good and everything is as unique as this review says.
