Just listened to this after a long time today. Doesn't have the staying power I once thought it had. Probably going to have to lower the rating for this one.

It's still an incredible album, one of the most perfect albums imo. The production on this album could have been alot better, it's approach is too straight-foward. It could have been alot more dimensional and would have fit the psychedelic undertones.

When Forever Comes Crashing is too straight forward in production. there i said it.

Long Post Ahead. Read At Own Risk.
I listened from Alaska to Parallax over the past couple of days, first time I listened to this band in about 4 months, to see if my ratings would change. They did. They went down a little for all the albums besides this one. I cant really explain why I like this one the best, but I just do.
My issues with this band is the same as many, so Im not sayin anything new. They are oozing with talent at every angle. Tommy is prob the weakest link to me on vocals, but hes okay. Musically they are obviously great players. But thats not everything.
The reason I love progressive music so much is that it mostly doesnt abide by the intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-outre structure. Many great songs have been written with that structure but its very limiting. Progressive music gets rid of that. The problem with BTBAM is that they take it to the extreme. Most of their songs seemed patched together with duct-tape. Like there are 5 songs in one. Every once in a while they pull off something that sounds really fuckin cool, but then ruin it by changing up again and killing the momentum.
Thats my biggest beef with this band. I see their potential, and they can write some great songs (White Walls) but they just dont know how to reign it in. I mean it would go a hell of a long way if they just stopped switching things up every 30 seconds. They do that and they could be great.

^in other words most BTBAM songs are a disjointed mess with average vocals and that's why I don't like them

I started listening to this band when I was 13 after Silent Circus came out. I heard Mordecai and it was mind blowing to me at the time. The last 2 releases didn't do much for more me until I listened to them again recently but I'm really looking forward to Future Sequence. Album is gonna rule.
