what's a shame is that I really couldn't care less about this record, what I've heard is just Gutter Phenomenon part 2 which is fine but doesn't really interest me.
They used to be one of my favourite bands back in the day maaan.

Hey first of all, i'll make up words whenever the hell i want, okay?
Second, I get WHY you're comparing I'm saying that "Hot Damn! epitomizes this band" is YOUR opinion, and you can't build a review around a solitary preference. It also makes a good portion of it irrelevent to people (like me) who have yet to hear "Hot Damn!".
And I don't need to write reviews to be able to give my opinion on review. If I did, this handy box I'm typing in wouldn't be here right now. I'll review something eventually, but most of the stuff I'd want to review is already covered.
But whatever, maybe if I actually listen to Hot Damn! your review will start to make a little more sense.

"Okay folks... this is it I gotta get outta here. But I do love buffalo. And the reason being its the only place i know of for certain where you can kidnap, molest, and then murder a baby and then.... (looks at watch) 28 minutes later be doing stand up at Merlin's with my friends."

Ya, no shit. The fact that it's a cd review written by a person implies that to most people.
and you can't build a review around a solitary preference.
Do you even read reviews? Because that's what 99% of them are.
It also makes a good portion of it irrelevent to people (like me) who have yet to hear "Hot Damn!".
So...I shouldn't compare it to Hot Damn! because I think Hot Damn! is a better album and because you haven't heard it? How does that make it irrelevant anyway?
And I don't need to write reviews to be able to give my opinion on review. If I did, this handy box I'm typing in wouldn't be here right now.
Technically you don't, but if you don't want to look like some waste of space who's just come in here to flame bait other users, it's probably a good idea.

No, reviews are built around an analysis of the work in question, not around "Their last album was better".
the best reviews I've read on hear describe textures, tones, moods, tempos, etc.
All you did was tell me Hot Damn! was better, and that it was more or less the same as Gutter Phenomenon.
I suppose if you are only writing your review for you and everyone else who's heard (and appreciated) Hot Damn!, then that's fine. But people who have never heard ETID and want to know what they sound like will have to read at least 2 more reviews to understand what your saying.
And I'm happy to look like a waste of space. Note the absence of a profile picture and complete disregard for speeling and grammers.

Alright, First off im gonna have to dissagree with you right off the bat. This cd is incredible! There is not a single bad song on this cd. It is a huge step foward in the right direction since gutter. If you put genres aside cause if i hear the fucking word metalcore im gonna throw a fit. STOP CATOGORIZING EVERY BAND AND JUST LISTEN TO THEM. Genres dont mean anything. This album has catchy vocals, Heavy not generic breakdowns, Insane riffs, And Lyrics that you had wish you wrote. I think it shows alot of maturity of the band since gutter and hot damn! for various reasons.
And for all you lame ass kids complaining how its not heavy enough or has too much singing can suck a dick because you have no the slightest clue of what your talking about so keep listening to your as i lay dying albums cause unlike etid they will keep releasing the same shit over and over.

Seeing as this is a user-to/for-user site, reviews are mainly based off an individuals impression of the CD, rather then a non-biased approach of evaluating the CD, most of the time.

I started writing a response to all of this, but I seriously could give a fuck, so whatever, I just don't care. If there's one thing I will say though, it's what I said in my first post; do something constructive or stop coming on here and being a jerk. We have enough of them already.

I listened to part of all the songs on this album, and from what I've heard, this sounds like a fun band that has songs that are repetitive and monotonous unless you listen enough times to decipher the differences. They sound like a more metalcore-ish Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
The video for We'rewolf is great though.
|
| |
Maylene ripped these guys dude
|
| |
That's true in the sense that ETID was around before Maylene.
Personally, I prefer Keith Buckley's vocals over Dallas Taylor's for this kind of music, but Dallas does do so much better in Maylene than he did for Underoath.

Fair enough. I'll get around to writing it as soon as I have a little more time to spare than just writing in comment boxes.
