Taking over from Balls here but Oceanborn is best for the old-style and Century Child for the new one I guess (or actually the new album.)

Tristania's best album is Beyond the Veil I hear, but the only ones I have are the last two, so I'd recommend Ashes.

After Forever's best is Decipher, no contest.

Right, I think I'll go with Oceanborn, didn't like Dark Passion too much.

Then Ashes and Decipher it is, thanks Altmer (btw, I just recently found out where you got your name. High elves from Oblivion, good choice )This Message Edited On 05.15.08

I agree with Altmer, Century Child is their most accessible with the vocals which are just as strong + has a class rendition of The Phantom Of The Opera. Oceanborn then i'd say Century Child is a must. Also, maybe Fables And Dreams from Lunatica and Aegis or Velvet Darkness of Theatre Of Tragedy. If you've ehard Nymphetamine from Cradle Of Filth, the female vocals are from Liv Kristine era Theatre Of Tragedy.

^^^What other female vocalist do you think sounds like or better than her?

Simone is a good singer but the singer that I think tops everything else would be Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation. I not into soprano that much.

I don't know dude. These guys sound like a progressive, hevaier version of After Forever. I love Fools Of Damnation and Death Of A Dream. I think you would enjoy the new Todesbonden ComradeAltmer.

I'm going to have to say that this is more epic than After Forever's self titled, not that i'm bagging that because I love that album. This sounds much more complex. Unoriginal? Yeah. Excellent vocals and muscianship? Yeah. Maybe i'm just a fanboy of Simone but I love her voice. In the meantime I will have to search out older After Forever if it's as good as you say.

This album is worthless. A bit weaker clone of After Forever, which balanced between great symphonic-flavoured metal and patheticness (best english word I could use at the moment)

A band/album is never totally worthless when the singer is gorgeous and has an awesome voice.

This album s not as bad as people claim. I actrually find After Forever and Epica to be the best symphonic metal bands right now, followed by Nightwish and then the rest. Its just my taste though, I like the heavier songs of After Forever and epica the most, probably since they are the closest thing this genre has to symphonic black metal. I would say a large amount of bands in the symphonic metal genre are worth litening to, this and After Forever are my favorites.

I like it a lot. I heard Epica before I heard After Forever and I don't really prefer one over the other. I just know that I love the symphonic gothic metal sound and Epica do it very well.

Hmmm, maybe its just me but i found this album brilliant (if a little long-winded). The albums that take more than one listen to get into are, for me, usally pretty good. Definately in this case!
