I always thought that was a pretty shitty legacy tbh. Kansas has a bunch of great prog albums and songs... it’s not their fault they inadvertently turned into an AOR band with a bunch of albums in the bargain bin. Seriously, people need to take a deep dive into their best work

saw these dudes last night, it was killer

Am I insane or is the mix on Carry On Wayward Son kinda shit? The vocals on the choruses (not including the intro) are so weirdly muffled. I'm listening to this first time in years and it's such a banger but the mix just takes me out of it when the chorus comes.

There's a ton of other weird shit about this song, the first verse has what I assume is an unintentional accelerando. And the transition to the second verse is so abrupt.

I know the song was last second in the album but I'm surprised they never felt a need to re-release it and polish it up
