I have tried multiple times to get into them, even own Bloom and Teen Dream on CD, but I can't seem to get them at all. They don't do anything for me.

Honestly Beach House and Cocteau Twins have very different sounds imo, both are of course dream pop but I think the only reason people always compare BH to CT is that BH are the current flagship dream pop band i.e. the one that people who aren’t necessarily fans of the genre know. Both are great bands, CT are more consistent but I love BH’s Depression Cherry more than any CT album I’ve heard, that was a top 10 album of the ‘10s for me.

Ah right. I don't know anything about Beach House, but I've seen this situation with many other styles/genres where a popular artist just gets name-dropped (seemingly) everywhere as a likeness, when the comparisons aren't necessarily the most fitting to veterans of said genre.

I'm in a relative minority having that one as my favorite, but it was my first so perhaps I'm a bit biased. That one just has a wonderfully soothing nostalgic warmth that the rest of their work doesn't quite match for me. It's sad, but in a way that always makes me feel better about everything.

Re-listening to this. Still hits the right spot. I think I like this better than Treasure when I listened to them ages ago and maybe still do now. Will spin Treasure again sometime today to decide . Have not Listened to Blue Bell Knoll. Hows that compare to this and Treasure ?

Heard the first two and now have to go backpack shopping (lol) but so far I'm on board with that take; feels a lot more graceful and emotional than the two before it and reminds me of a lot of the mopey bits I liked on 7 (Girl Of The Year/Pay No Mind etc). Excited to see if the rest matches up
