I also really dislike alchemists percussion. It’s always so muted and toothless. I think that’s a pretty predictable gripe coming from someone who loves boom bap tho.
That’s just an extension of the production gripe anyways

the god is perfect beat does have some really subtle textural elements that drift in and out on top of the main loop but i get your criticism. to me most of alc's beats have a really nice smooth warm quality to them that makes them super listenable despite being pretty repetitive and minimalistic

“Nice smooth warm quality”
Yeah I hate that specifically hahaha

he does use super dry drum sounds set pretty far back in the mix, its not my favorite style either but it usually complements the rapper really well without being distracting

i prefer his production on some of the newer griselda joints to most of the gibbs stuff

I agree that his style works better with other rappers. Despite the context, he’s still not my cup of tea but he works better with rappers who are doing the billy woods bit.

lol I appreciate you actually explaining, Potsy. I can see your gripes but I guess the things that bother you simply don't bother me. I think I love Freddie's voice so I'm willing to give him more leeway on a lot of whatever he chooses to do on a song. As far as the beat, I think it's air tight. One of my favorite Alchy beats I've heard to this day. I think it has a lot of awesome melodic content on it. Love the cold piano melody and the dissonant, minor 2nd sounding chord that starts most loops of it. I think the little shimmering high synth and certain pauses in the drums and the subtle vocal clips that are worked in make the beat varied enough to fill up the run time. It'd be a bit repetitive if it were instrumental hip hop, sure, but seeing as there's a whole rap verse happening that should be the focus, I think it all gels swimmingly.
I like heavy percussion but I'm also open to it not being there or being more subtle. Alchemist's beats sometimes have a more ambient, sound arty quality that I think is part of his style. And I say that as someone who fucks with dusty, dirty boom bap beats and the most ignorant trap style beats as well. Alch's song "Deja Vu" with Roc Marciano is a good example of what I mean. Anyway, he's no Madlib, but I still think Alchemist is one of the best DJs working today.
"Griselda blow." Just no, Drift. I get it, you're all about the west coast shit, but no bro. Granted, they can turn out pretty underwhelming work from time to time.

Even if you're not into Alc's production there's no denying the impact he has in hip-hop right now. There are Japanese hip-hop artists and producers that I follow that also follow him. He reaches worldwide. I'm sure many rappers look at working with Alc as a goal in their careers. If they can get an album with him, chances are looking pretty good for their career to blow up bigger. He's well respected in the hip-hop community.

[3] smd faded 😘. You’ve literally been going out of your way to be bothered by me for months, your inability to not spazz out at anything that doesn’t insulate your pathetic little echo chamber is unbecoming and pitiful. So trust, the feeling is mutual, ankle-biting lil bitch.

Yeh, ngl Faded, it's a music site where sweaty music nerds that are opinionated to a fault talk music. The cattiness comes with it to an extent. You sound a tad fragile.
@Potsy: Have you ever heard Jay jay-z by Zelooperz? What are your thoughts?
